This 4-piston valve 3/4-sized tuba is based on the Yamaha 103 model with some significant differences. We added a 4th valve, went from a 14.2-inch bell to a larger 16-inch bell, and increased the bore size. The TU422 bore for valves 1-3 is .689 and valve no. 4 is .707, which allows for a more open low register and a bigger sound. This is now one of the most versatile small tubas available. Not only is it great for the younger student because of its size, but also for the adult pro looking for a smaller compact BBb.
